EY celebrates 80 years in Cyprus

2017 marks 80 years of successful business for EY in Cyprus. The origins of EY Cyprus date back to 1937, when the Russel & Company partnership was formed. At the time, this was the first professional accounting firm registered in Cyprus.

The current firm, Ernst & Young Cyprus Ltd, was formed in 1989 as a result of the merger of Arthur Young/ Russel & Co. and Ernst & Whinney, and is a member firm of Ernst & Young Global, the international professional services company headquartered in London. The organization was known as Ernst & Young until 2013, when it underwent a worldwide rebranding and changed its name to EY. It has taken the bold leadership and countless contributions of people around the world to form the leading global organization EY is today.

Throughout the last 80 years, EY Cyprus has been at the forefront in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory providing services to a broad range of clients from private individuals and entrepreneurial businesses to major public companies and large multinationals. Having started with only a handful of professionals in 1937, today, the local practice numbers 300 people, based in Nicosia and Limassol.

EY Cyprus is part of a network of more than 250,000 people in more than 150 countries around the world, and one of the 22 countries that comprise the Central and Southeast Europe (CSE) Region of EY’s Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) Area. While serving its clients, EY Cyprus draws upon this vast network to bring together the right people, in the right place, at the right time, tailoring its services to the business needs of its clients.

Stavros Pantzaris, EY Cyprus Country Managing Partner, says:
