It will represent Cyprus in the regional CFA Research Challenge for Europe, Middle East and Africa

CFA Society Cyprus welcomed its 20 new members at a special award ceremony in Nicosia, in the presence of Mr Richard Fernand, the Senior Director of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme of the CFA Institute. By awarding its new members with the CFA Charterholder designation, the society has further increased its membership, which now numbers over 174 members.

Finance students from six Cypriot academic institutions will analyse the business model of Vassiliko Cement Works in this year's CFA Research Challenge. The competition is organised by the CFA Society Cyprus for the sixth year in a row.

The CFA Society Cyprus elected its new Board of Directors at its Annual General Meeting. The new Board is comprised of seven members, who have many years of experience in the banking and financial sector.

Brexit is expected to have a marginally negative but manageable impact on the Cyprus economy, as confirmed by the annual report of the Central Bank of Cyprus of December 2016. This conclusion is based both on the flexibility demonstrated by the tourism sector over the years and a gradual decline in reliance on the United Kingdom market, as well as the partial mitigation of the impact of a drop in the export of services to the United Kingdom from lower costs for the import of goods and services.
