Vaccination centres to operate on Saturdays

Vaccination centres will now operate on Saturdays from September 11 onwards to better cater to school children, the health ministry announced on Thursday.

Separately, the ministry also announced that 660 booster shots have been administered at care homes and health workers at the hospitals are to follow – with those vaccinated in February or January having priority.

The health ministry will contact the immunosuppressed by phone.

The booster shots – currently only Pfizer jabs are being administered under the programme – are to be made available to those aged 65 and above, those in care homes, the immunosuppressed and health care workers who received their jab over six months ago.

The ministry said the vaccination centres will operate from 8am-12 noon on Saturdays and will accept anyone aged over the age of 12. People who have booked their appointment via the vaccination portal are eligible while walk-in centres will also be up and running. The contact details can be found at the end of the article.

The ministry reiterated that walk-in centres run from 8am-1pm on Monday-Friday and on Fridays they are also open to non-Gesy members.

The announcement also reminded the public to bring their identification documents – be they an ID card or alien registration card – and that minors are required to provide proof of their parents’ consent.

Nicosia’s vaccination centres are at the state fair and can be contacted at 22 574 320 / 22 570 559. Limassol’s are at the Spyros Kyprianou sports centre (25 335 361) and Kyperounda vaccination centre (25 806 700).

Larnaca’s vaccination centre is at the port (24 642 385), Paphos’ is at the general hospital (26 803 246) and, finally, Famagusta’s is at the health clinic (23 202 263).
