Use of ferry service surpassed expectations

Initial expectations for the Cyprus-Greece passenger ferry were surpassed with almost 8,000 people using the service this year.

The service, which closed for the year on Friday, was initially estimated to attract around 4-5,000 but 7,900 people ended up using it, according to daily Politis.

Occupancy in the cabins on board the MV Daleela was close to 100%.

On the 44 journeys operated this season a total of around 1,500 cars and 150 motorcycles were taken on board.

These figures reportedly mean contractor Scandro Holdings is considering using a larger vessel next year.

An increased number of journeys are also expected to be made with the service set to start in May and run until October 2023.

There are also thoughts to include Israel in the route too.

Decisions, and prices, for next year are expected to be reached in October.
