Unemployment rate down by 10.4% in October 2015

Unemployment rate in October 2015 dropped by 10.4% on an annual basis, the Statistical Service of Cyprus said recently.

The figures showed that compared to October 2014, the unemployed decreased by 4,318. The reduction was observed mainly in the sectors of construction which recorded a decrease of 1.103 unemployed, manufacturing (685), trade (680), financial and insurance activities (533), public administration (378) and education (307).

Also, newcomers in the labour market decreased by 299.

Jobless people registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of October 2015, reached 37,016.

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that shows the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for October 2015 decreased to 41,546 persons in comparison to 41,847 in the previous month.
