Unemployment in Cyprus drops by 16.9% in November 2017

The unemployed persons, registered at the District Labour Offices on the last day of November 2017, reached 33.780.

Based on the seasonally adjusted data that show the trend of unemployment, the number of registered unemployed for November 2017 decreased to 31.045 persons in comparison to 31.497 in the previous month, according to figures recent Statistical Service. 

In comparison with November 2016, a decrease of 6.866 persons or 16.9% was recorded which was mainly observed in the sectors of construction (a decrease of 1.272 unemployed persons), trade (a decrease of 1.245), public administration (a decrease of 859), financial and insurance activities (a decrease of 661), manufacturing (a decrease of 590), accommodation and food service activities (a decrease of 397) and to newcomers in the labour market (a decrease of 728).
