The unemployment rate recorded a drop of 2.7% in July 2014 compared to the same month last year, according to the Statistical Service.
At the end of last month, there were 46,727 people registered unemployed with district labour offices, recording a year-on-year decrease of 1,274 persons or 2.7%. The drop in unemployment was mainly seen in the following sectors: trade (1,500 less unemployed), construction (1,179), education (826), manufacturing (497) and professional, scientific and technical activities (372).
During the same period, unemployment rose in the following sectors: financial and insurance activities (up by 1,011 unemployed), public administration (595) and newcomers in the labour market (1,238).
