Unemployment drops 5.6% in February 2015

Unemployment in Cyprus dropped 5.6% in February 2015 according to the Statistical Service.

Accordingto figures released, the number of registered unemployed persons reached 50,240 as of last day in February.

The number of registered unemployed persons after seasonality adjustments for the month of February dropped to 45,668 persons from 45,741 in the previous month.

The Statistical Service said on Wednesday that compared with February 2014, there were 2,964 fewer unemployed people mainly in construction, trade, manufacturing, financial and insurance activities, professional jobs and newcomers in the job market.

An increase in unemployment was reported in accommodation and food service sectors (of 1,419 more unemployed persons) and public administration (increase by 470).
