Tourist arrivals in Cyprus recorded a year-on-year increase of 7 per cent in February 2025, with an additional 32,865 visitors arriving on the island during the first two months of the year.
This marks a significant 15.4 per cent rise compared to the same period in 2024. According to data released this week by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat), tourist arrivals in February 2025 reached 133,760, up from 125,034 in February 2024. In the period from January to February 2025, total arrivals stood at 245,860, compared to 212,995 in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The United Kingdom remained the leading source of tourism for Cyprus in February 2025, accounting for 24.8 per cent of total arrivals, with 33,115 visitors. Poland followed with 15.1 per cent (20,165 arrivals), Israel with 14.3 per cent (19,194 arrivals), and Greece with 8.2 per cent (10,978 arrivals).
Regarding the purpose of travel, 60.3 per cent of visitors in February 2025 travelled to Cyprus for holidays, 20.4 per cent visited friends or relatives, while 19.1 per cent arrived for business purposes. By comparison, in February 2024, 66.8 per cent visited for holidays, 17.8 per cent for family visits, and 14.2 per cent for business reasons.
Increase in travel by Cyprus residents
Meanwhile, the number of trips abroad by Cypriot residents also increased in February 2025, reaching 124,232, compared to 114,110 in February 2024, marking an 8.9 per cent rise. The most common destinations for Cypriot residents in February 2025 included Greece, which accounted for 34.4 per cent of trips (42,733 travellers), followed by the United Kingdom with 9.5 per cent (11,825). Italy was in third place with 5.1 per cent (6,289), followed by the United Arab Emirates with 4.0 per cent (5,028), and Germany with 3.4 per cent (4,237).
