TUS airways kicks off with flights to Israel

TUS airways, a new airline based in Larnaca, is starting regular flights to Tel Aviv and Haifa on February 14 2016, according to the company’s statement.

TUS, an acronym for 'Τhe Ultimate Schedule', was granted an air operator certificate in October 15, 2015 by the civil aviation department and a commercial aviation licence in December 2015. The airline aims to connect Cyprus with neighbouring countries via frequent flights on a daily basis, serving both business and leisure travellers.

“The scheduled flights to Tel Aviv are currently seven per week and will be increased before the summer period,” the TUS statement said. “There are plans for two flights per day, six times a week to and from the aforementioned destinations.”

From March 28, flights to Heraklion will start with flights to Rhodes by the end of April, with the aim of running them all year round. Other planned destinations include Amman, Cairo and Beirut. During the summer, charter flights to the Greek islands of Kos, Samos and Karpathos will gradually be added. During winter, TUS intends to offer charter flights to warmer destinations like Eilat and Aqaba, on the Red Sea. According to the carrier, packages to Haifa will also be announced soon.

The Cyprus airline also offers tour operators, corporate groups, governments and individuals the chance of chartering an aircraft and flying to a destination of their choice.

The fleet will operate twin-engine SAAB 340 turboprops with a capacity of 34 seats which can be used to operate medium-range flights.

Prices for a one-way ticket will range from €69 to €169, depending on destination.
