Trade deficit up in 1st half of 2017

Cyprus’ trade deficit recorded an annual increase of €264 million in the first half of 2017.

The trade deficit was €2.361,9 million in January-June 2017 compared to €2.097,9 million in the corresponding period of 2016, the Statistical Service of Cyprus reported on Friday.
 
It said that total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) in January-June 2017 amounted to €3.681,0 million as compared to €3.552,3 million in January-June 2016.
 
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other EU Member States) in January-June 2017 were €1.319,0 million compared to €1.454,4 million in January-June 2016.
 
In June 2017 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU Member States) valued at €542,5 million.
