The trade deficit in the first nine months of the year widened by €162.4m to €3.2bn compared with a year before, mainly on increased imports, the statistical service said.
Total imports rose in January to September an annual 6.9% to €5.4bn, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Thursday. Total exports rose 9% to below €2.3bn.
Imports from other European Union countries fell an annual 4% to €3.4bn in the first three quarters of 2017, while exports fell 21% to €830m, Cystat said. Imports from third countries rose 32% to €2bn while exports to them rose 40% to €1.4bn.
