Tourist arrivals rose 11% year-on-year in June 2014, reaching 342,221 compared with 308,219 last year, the island’s statistical service said recently.
Arrivals in the first half of the year also rose 6.0% on an annual basis, reaching 979,838 compared with 924,135. June was the third consecutive month that recorded an increase after April’s 11.4%, and May’s 6.1%.
June saw a 22.1% year-on-year rise in arrivals from Russia — 117,960 from 96,618 – and a 0,6% rise from the UK – 111,792 as opposed to 111,156.
Swedes were less in June this year, 17,065 compared with 17,393 in 2013, as were arrivals from Norway, down 3.1% – 9,733 compared with 10,049 — and Greece, which fell 6.8%, or 8,584, compared with 9,206.
