Tourist arrivals up in 2014

Tourist arrivals rose 3.7% year on year in December 2014, the statistical service said recently, as the year closed with a 1.5% increase.

The service said 2,441,239 tourists visited Cyprus in 2014, compared with 2,405, 390 in 2013.

December last year saw 56,863 arrivals compared with 54,813 in 2013, the service said.

Arrivals from the UK chalked a 5.1% increase – from 17,115 in 2013 to 17,995. Greece recorded a 9.1% increase to 8,263 from 7,577.

Russian tourist arrivals dropped 12.5% to 4,956 from 5,664 in December, 2013.
