Tourist arrivals rose an annual 27% in April 2017 to 286,331, an all-time record for the month, with almost all major markets performing strongly, the statistical service said.
Total arrivals from the UK, traditionally Cyprus’ largest source of incoming tourism, rose 16%, to 106,291, compared to the respective month of 2016. Those from Russia, the second largest market, rose 22%, to 47,001, Cystat said in statement on its website on Wednesday.
Arrivals from Germany rose an annual 157%, to 23,903, and Israel, 77% to 21,572, Cystat said. The number of Greek tourists dropped 2.5%, to 16,266.
The largest increase in arrivals came from Austria whose number tripled reaching 5,331.
In January to April, the number of arrivals rose 20%, to 572,024, Cystat said.
