A 16% annual increase in December 2014 revenue from tourism to €43.7m was unable to offset lost ground during the rest of the year, the statistical service said.
Overall revenue from tourism last year fell 2.8% to above €2 billion compared to the year before, Cystat said in a statement on its website today.
The number of tourist arrivals in 2014 rose 1.5% to 2.4 million, Cystat said on January 19, 2015.
Directly or indirectly, tourism makes out roughly one quarter of Cyprus’s economy according to the London-based World Travel and Tourism Council.
