Tourism revenue down in March 2019

Revenue from tourism declined to €96.6m in March 2019 from €110m in the same month last year, a decrease of 12.2%, the Statistical Service said recently.

Between January and March 2019 revenue from tourism stood at €188.6m compared with €201.1m in the corresponding period in 2018, a decrease of 6.2%.

Spending per person per stay declined marginally to €568.19 from €572.48 in March 2018 while expenditure per person from January until March 2019 reached €527.64 compared with €544.36 in the same period in 2018, a decrease of 3.1%.

The average length of stay remained the same as last year at 8.3 days.
