Tourism figures up in October 2015

An increase of 7% in the number of tourist arrivals was recorded in October 2015 compared to last year, while the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) estimates that the number of tourists for 2015 will be more than 2.6 million.

According to the Republic’s Statistical Service, arrivals of tourists reached 269.363 in October 2015 compared to 251.453 in October 2014, recording an increase of 7,1%.

An increase of 13,3% was recorded in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom (from 101.122 in October 2014 to 114.555 in October 2015), 29,5% increase from Germany (from 13.044 to 16.897), 34,7% increase from Greece (from 10.417 to 14.033) and 13,6% increase from Sweden (from 10.916 to 12.403 this year) .

On the other hand a decrease of 28,3% was recorded in tourist arrivals from Russia (35.131 in October 2015 compared to 49.030 in October 2014).

For the period January – October 2015 arrivals of tourists totalled 2.472.963 compared to 2.302.937 in the corresponding period of 2014, recording an increase of 7,4%.

A CTO press release notes that the number of arrivals will probably increase due to the international developments and trends.
