Survey shows Cyprus' hotels 4% cheaper than last year

The world's largest hotel online search engine 'trivago' has found staying in a hotel in Cyprus in June 2014 is an average 4% cheaper than during the same period last year. The trivago Hotel Price Index (tHPI,) takes into consideration the average overnight accommodation prices for a standard double room.

According to the tHPI for June 2014, prices increased in Protaras by a significant 36% from €122 last year to €166 this one.

There was also a price increase in Ayia Napa, but by only 1% with an average price of €139 this year compared to €137 last year.

The drop in the Coral Bay area was 10% falling from €153 in 2013 to €137 this year. In the rest of Paphos, there was an even bigger price decrease, 20%, from €136 last year to €109 this one.

The 4% average decrease represents a reduction from €113 in June 2013 to €109 this month.

Prices in Greece increased an average 21% including a whopping 95% increase in Imerovigli, a village on the island of Santorini, adjacent to the north of the island capital Fira. Imerovigli is mostly famous for its beautiful sunset. However, accommodation prices in Turkey fell 15%.
