Subsidised holiday scheme for vaxxed and recovered being reintroduced

The subsided holidays scheme for the vaccinated and those who have recovered from Covid will be reintroduced in December until March, the deputy ministry of tourism announced on Thursday.

The extension was granted “with the aim to continue promoting domestic tourism for the benefit of the public, businesspeople and employees in the tourist industry,” the announcement said.

According to the scheme, in force from December 1 to March 31, the state will be covering 25% of the total hotel stay cost for the tourist establishments that have been registered under the plan with the deputy ministry of tourism.

Eligible to apply for the scheme are people aged 16 and older who have received both doses of the vaccine, including those who received Janssen – one shot – or have recovered from the virus in the last 180 days.

Children aged 12 to 15 may present a negative coronavirus rapid test taken in the last 72 hours in case they are unvaccinated, the announcement added.

There are no requirements for children under 12.

The scheme provides for a maximum price of €70 per night for a double room, including breakfast with the minimum stay of two nights.

Businesses who are interested in participating in the scheme may apply through by 1pm on November 22. The application can be found at the deputy ministry’s website.

The participating businesses are listed on the deputy ministry’s website on www.visitcyprus.com and on the link https://www.visitcyprus.com/domestic-tourism-2020-2021.
