SAS flights to and from Cyprus will not be affected despite bankruptcy, at least in July

Flights to and from Cyprus will not be affected at all, at least in July, even though SAS on Tuesday filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States.

The Scandinavian airline has described the bankruptcy filing as the “next step” in a reorganization that would address the money-losing airline’s financial difficulties. It was submitted a day after its pilots went on strike.

Hermes Airports which operate Cyprus’ two airports on Wednesday said the Scandinavian airline has three scheduled flights weekly for Larnaca Airport.

These concern the routes Larnaca-Copenhagen, Larnaca-Gothenburg and Larnaca-Oslo.

A Hermes spokesman told Philenews they were informed by SAS that, at least for the month of July, the company’s flight schedule to and from Larnaca will not be affected.

Based on SAS’ Cyprus schedule, it will operate three flights a week until October 2022. However, Hermes were told that it is too early to know the company’s next moves.
