Ryanair announces new route to Cyprus: From Brussels South Charleroi to Paphos

Two new routes complete the range of destinations available from Brussels South Charleroi Airport for the 2021-2022 winter season. Ryanair is launching new flights to Essaouira (Morocco) and Paphos (Cyprus), according to a press release from the budget airline on Tuesday.

There will be two flights a week, on Thursdays and Sundays for Essaouira and Tuesdays and Saturdays for Paphos, connecting these two cities with Brussels-Charleroi, on the airline’s Boeing 737-800s, with a capacity of 189 seats.

Flights to Paphos will start on November 2, and for Eassaouira on October 31.

Ryanair has confirmed that it has increased the number of seats across its aircraft network to 1.3 million per week, which is double the number of seats that it was offering during the last seven days of May.

Net seat sales are currently at the highest point in two years.

The Irish Times quotes Ryanair as saying, “Ryanair traffic across Europe is recovering strongly in all markets except Ireland, where the defective hotel quarantine is deterring millions of vaccinated British and EU visitors travelling here in June, July and August.”

Bank of America’s sky tracker reportedly calculated that during the week that ended on May 23, net seat sales on flights within Europe increased one percentage point over the previous seven days, to 32 per cent of what seat sale were during the same period two year ago.

Ryanair Chief Executive Michael O’Leary said in May that Ryanair is hoping to fly four million passengers in June, and suggested that it could fly seven to nine million passengers in July, if vaccination programmes continue and no vaccine-resistant strains of Covid-19 emerge.

Essaouira is a port on the Atlantic coast of Morocco that’s popular with tourists. Nestled on the seafront, its Medina is protected by 18th-century ramparts, with the fortifications offering a stunning view of the ocean, the release says.

From 31 October 2021, there will be two flights a week between the international airport of Essaouira – Mogador and Brussels South Charleroi Airport: Brussels-Charleroi (06:35) – Essaouira (10:15) and a return flight at 10:40.
