The Paphos regional board of tourism welcomed the news in an announcement, and the expansion of the airline at Paphos airport.

The twice-weekly flights connecting Paphos and Kiev will get underway in April 2019.

The new fights are in addition to the new routes already announced, including those linking Paphos and Berlin.

“The flights are of the utmost importance and upgrade the prestige of the destination, as well as Paphos international airport,” Nassos Hadjigeorgiou, head of the Paphos tourism board said.

Last month Ryanair announced a new route from Paphos to Berlin Tegel, with a twice-weekly service commencing in April 2019.

The tourist board also noted that the consolidation of Ryanair in Paphos and the new routes are expected to give further impetus to the economy and development of various sections of tourism as well as to the domestic market.

In March, Ryanair announced 12 new routes from Paphos for winter 2018, increasing its capacity by 74% over last year.

The new routes now underway include Bournemouth and Liverpool and will contribute 940,000 passengers annually as Ryanair nearly doubles its operation in Paphos, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer David O’Brien told a press conference.

Also introduced were twice-weekly flights connecting Paphos with Amman, Bournemouth, Bratislava, Bucharest, Budapest, Chania (which has been reinstated), Krakow, Liverpool, Riga and Tallinn. Flights are also being operated once a week to Dublin and Kaunas.

The 15 total winter routes also include daily flights to London Stansted, Tel Aviv and Thessaloniki.

Hadjigeorgiou said: “We are particularly pleased that Ryanair is constantly investing in Paphos with new routes that link the destination with high priority markets is greatly enhanced.”

He added that Paphos is now closer to its goal of re-establishing itself as a year-round destination, enriching the mix of visitors and the various airports it serves.

“We thank both Ryanair for the confidence it shows in the destination and the tourist industry in Paphos as well as Hermes airports and the CTO for their efforts to develop connectivity on the island,” he said.
