In January 2017 compared with December 2016, the seasonally adjusted volume of retail trade fell by 0.1% in the euro area (EA19), while it rose by 0.1% in the EU28, according to estimates from Eurostat.
In December the retail trade volume decreased by 0.5% in the euro area and by 1.0% in the EU28. In January 2017 compared with January 2016, the calendar adjusted retail sales index increased by 1.2% in the euro area and by 1.5% in the EU28.
Data for Cyprus concern December 2016, when the monthly volume grew by 0.8% and the annual by 3.9%.
