The cumulative total revenue for the first half of the year, CTO said had now reached a record of nearly €1 billion, a hike of almost 20% over the same period last year.
According to CTO, the average spending from nearly all markets for the period January-June had increased, either due to increased daily spending, or due to an increase in the length of stay of the tourists or both.
The CTO said that according to the data there has been an increase of 12.5% in spending per stay by Russian tourists from €691.98 in June 2016 to €766.39 this year.
Israeli spending was up from €497.22 last year to €634.41 this year. In this case, despite daily spending going down 2.3% there was an increase of 34.1% in the length of time they spent on the island.
UK tourists spent less overall. Even though their daily spend was up 0.9%, their overall spending was down 5.4% because they had reduced their length of stay by 3.7%. Overall, British tourists spent €757.96 in June 2017, down from €801.38 in June 2016.
On average expenditure per tourist during their stay in June 2017 reached €734.89 compared with €728.53 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 0.9%. Expenditure per person per day for June 2017 compared with June 2016 also recorded an increase of 0.9%.
