The Commissioner for Privatisations, Constandinos Herodotou, speaking at a meeting of the House Finance Committee, said that in spite of government intentions to privatise certain organisations, including Cyta, his team did studies on what the most beneficial action would be.
Regarding the state’s Troodos’ residences, the Commissioner said that the procedure does not involve the selling of assets, but rather long-term loaning, with the property remaining in the ownership of the government.
He pointed out that the plan for developing Troodos involved the upgrade of the region, along with additional investment by a private investor.
In the Troodos area are 164 state-owned residences, of which 70 are in the Troodos square, 56 in Amiantos, 25 in Stavros tis Psokas, and 13 in Platania. The study for Troodos is 90% complete.
Regarding the state lottery, Herodotou noted that the Cabinet approved its management being assigned to a private investor for a 15-year period, with the ownership still belonging to the state.
As for the CSE, the matter was presented once more in the House of Representatives after a request by the majority of House parties in order to conduct a study which will examine all possibilities for the organisation’s future.
Herodotou said that his team is not pushingfor the privatisation of the CSE, noting that the study will point to the best steps for managing the CSE.
