The upcoming presidential elections in Cyprus will take place on 5 February 2023, the Ministry of Interior has announced.
According to a press release, the Minister of the Interior will issue a decree on Friday, 23 December 2022 announcing important dates with regard to the elections. Tuesday, 27 December 2022 will be the last date for eligible voters to register to vote in Cyprus and abroad.
On Thursday, 5 January 2023, candidacies for the elections will be submitted and a month later, on Sunday, 5 February 2023, the elections will take place. In case there is a need for a second round, it will take place a week later, on Sunday, 12 February 2023.
All citizens of the Republic who are 18 years old and over residing in Cyprus and are registered have the right to vote. Citizens who will reach the age of 18 by 5 February 2023 have the right to register. More information can be found at www.moi.gov.cy.
Citizens who reside in other countries and would like to vote can declare their intent at Cyprus' diplomatic mission in that specific country from 3 October 2022 until 27 December 2022. However, absentee voter polling stations will only operate should the number of voters exceed 50 in each specific country.
