Cyprus’ energy prospects were among the topics discussed recently by President Nicos Anastasiades with the Energy Strategy Council, with an eye towards making the Council a permanent institution in the future.
Speaking to reporters outside the Presidential Palace, deputy government spokesman Victoras Papadopoulos confirmed that the meeting had taken place.
“The Energy Strategy Council is an institution created by the President after being elected, and has proven to be absolutely useful,” said Papadopoulos.
“The last report on the third licencing round has been followed precisely, and we had the successful declaration of the third licensing round,” the deputy spokesman added.
Papadopoulos said that also discussed were matters pertaining to the even smoother operation of the Council, and the possibility of making the Council a permanent institution for future presidents to use.
