President chairs broad meeting on ‘health for all’

President Nicos Anastasiades discussed potential upgrades to the health sector in Cyprus on Thursday during a broad meeting at the presidential palace.

The meeting included Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantela, Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos, government spokesman Marios Pelekanos and representatives of the state health services (Okypy) and the Health Insurance Organisation (HIO).

A statement released by the President’s office said the meeting mainly focused on the state of public health on the island, reviewing the “Health For All” plan established in 2013.

Health policies were also assessed, particularly those included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan ‘Cyprus Tomorrow’.

Anastasiades urged everyone included in the meeting to ensure the continuous upgrade of the health system Gesy, which he called one of the most important pillars in Cyprus.

As far as the ‘Cyprus Tomorrow’ plan is concerned, the president called on his ministers to maintain the level of efficiency in the health sector in order for all citizens to enjoy the same benefits.
