Pipe laying vessel 'Castorone' docks in Limassol

The 374 meters long ship is the biggest vessel that has ever docked at Cyprus' southern coastal city and belongs to SAIPEM, a subsidiary of energy company E&P ENI.

Cyprus is the first European country ‘Castorone’ is docking for refuelling purposes, while preparing to undertake subsea operations in Egypt.

More than 100 tons of cargo will arrive in Cyprus by air, to be loaded on the ship, along with 3,000 pipes. A representative of the company overseeing the operation expressed his satisfaction with the presence of ‘Castorone’ in Cyprus and said he was certain the ship would be offered the best possible services. 


An official welcoming ceremony will be held at Limassol port on Tuesday, May 6, in the presence of Energy and Communications and Works Ministers.
