The Paphos Regional Board of Tourism sad that the region and Cyprus in general will get a major boost from Ryanair’s resumption of direct flights to Rome as of October 2014.
The region’s tourism body, that includes hoteliers and travel groups, said that the continuation of as many as 31 flights a week is also critical to the island’s tourism industry.
“The flights to and from Belgium, Lithuania, Rome and the United Kingdom also coincides with our strategy to expand into new markets, as well as to upgrade our primary markets as well,” said Nasos Hadjigeorgiou Executive Manager of the Paphos tourism agency.
“We have already started work to promote winter tourism and flights and to expand the official tourism season further to help overcome the declines in the sector that is not helping our economy to recover,” he added.
