Paphos shortlisted for EU Capital of Smart Tourism award

Paphos has been selected as a finalist for the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023, among 29 candidates from 13 countries, the Paphos Tourism Board said in an announcement on Tuesday.

Shortlisted cities will be invited to present their nominations to a European jury in November, which will select the European Smart Tourism Capitals 2023.

Should Paphos win the award, it will receive a promotional boost and branding support for 2023. This will include the production of a promotional video, a specially designed hashtag sculpture for the city, as well as personalised promotional activities and promotion at the European level but also internationally, the Paphos Tourism Board said.

The application for the award has been prepared by the Paphos Municipality and the Paphos Regional Board of Tourism.

Paphos attracts over 550,000 international visitors per year with an average duration of stay of eight days. Around 14,000 people are employed in the tourism industry of the city.
