The company expects to receive the necessary permits from the Civil Aviation Department and the Ministry of Transport soon to be able to operate, and is already planning flights from Larnaca to Athens, London and the Middle East.
This latest local airline start-up is also in the process of transferring to its new offices in Larnaca, which is expected to take place within the next few days.
The company is currently recruiting staff ahead of take-off and has its eye on the local labour market. It is estimated that in the next quarter, 150 new jobs will be created once Orion is up and running.
Orion has already hired its intake of first cabin crew staff following special workshops held in Nicosia and Athens in November and December 2015 respectively.
In 2015, three airline companies applied to the Cypriot government for operating licenses in Cyprus.
