New service provides sms reminder that passports, ID cards are set to expire

The Civil Registry and Migration Department now provides a new service allowing citizens to be reminded via an sms that their passport and ID card is set to expire, Philenews reports.

The Nicosia District Administration provides this service as of Tuesday, and this new step will be followed by other districts shortly.

It is part of possibilities provided recently for electronic appointments as regards IDs, passports and joining the island’s electoral registry.

These new electronic steps have turned the coronavirus challenge essentially into an opportunity to avoid as much as possible close contact and queues while citizens are served.

To apply for the issuance and renewal of passports, IDs, refugee IDs, participation in the electoral registry, you can now make an appointment online through the website of the Nicosia District Administration.
