In January to May, the total number of tourist arrivals rose an annual 18% to 990,756, which is also an all-time record for this period of the year, Cystat said in statement on its website on Monday.
Arrivals from the UK, which is traditionally the main source of incoming tourism for Cyprus, rose 20% in May compared with the respective month of 2016, while those from Russia, which recently developed into second major market, rose 0.3% to 108,063, Cystat said. Arrivals from Germany, Israel and Sweden rose 55%, 93% and 26% to 21,076, 20,712 and 20m 379 respectively, while those from Greece dropped 6.4% to 14,682.
In a separate statement, Cystat said that the number of Cyprus residents who travelled abroad dropped marginally in May compared to a year before to 102,068.
