The new passenger terminal at the Limassol Port is set to be unveiled at the start of the new year, putting an end to the current chaotic scenes for passengers arriving and departing Cyprus.
The new area, the Cyprus Ports Authority says, will finally do away with the problem of hundreds of thousands of passengers each year being forced to disembark and board in areas that are also designated for crates and other cargo.
The construction of the terminal’s reception centre – which should have been finished back in 2013 but was put on hold following the collapse of the island’s banking system – is now complete and is expected to be delivered at the end of January.
The cost of the terminal is said to be €14 million.
