Air travellers in Cyprus can soon expect a wider choice of operators according to the Transport Minister Marios Demetriades.
Marios Demetriades has told journalists that a new airline could be operating from the island before the end of this year.
Demetriades did not go into detail, but did add that his ministry was looking at three new licensing applications.
He also revealed that interest had been expressed in the facilities of the defunct Cyprus Airways at the old Larnaca Airport.
Cyprus Airways closed down in January this year, after EU Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager said that the airline had no possibility of becoming viable without continued state subsidies.
