Mytilineos, Motor Oil bid to supply Cyprus

Greek industrial group Mytilineos and the country’s second-biggest oil refiner Motor Oil have submitted a binding bid to supply natural gas to Cyprus’ state gas company (DEFA), Mytilineos said recently.

The group said that M&M Gas, a unit owned jointly by Mytilineos and Motor Oil, submitted the offer on Tuesday.

M&M Gas is leading a consortium of companies, one of two that DEFA has short-listed to take part in the final bidding process for the construction of infrastructure to provide liquefied natural gas, regasify it and transfer it to power general facilities in Vasilikos, Cyprus.

The project includes the supply of liquefied natural gas to the eastern Mediterranean island country for seven years up until 2020 and an option to extend the contract until 2025.

Cyprus is expected to name the preferred bidder in the coming period, Mytilineos said. It did not provide any financial details for the potential deal.
