According to recent press reports, Aegean and Singapore have linked up to offer more favourable flights to people in Cyprus or those in transit in Cyprus and who wish to travel to Asia or Australia. The destinations in question include Singapore, Australia, and Thailand and will include just one stopover in Athens.
Most people traveling from Cyprus into Asia or Australia have in the past been forced to venture in theMiddle East like Abu Dhabi, Bahrain or Dubai for a lengthy stopover before connecting with another flight to take them to their final destination.
The new route will now see passengers flown with Aegean to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport in Athens (1 hour and 45 minutes) where they will make a short stop-over before Singapore Airlines flies them direct to their destination.
The new route also offers additional options for passengers travelling from the Balkan region like Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Albania, Serbia and even Greece who had in the past been doing most of their stopovers in Istanbul.
Singapore Airlines will fly out from Athens three times a week while officials of Aegean and Singapore Airlines will soon travel to Cyprus to unveil the new travel packages to Asia and Australia.
