Limassol port to push for more cruises

DP World Limassol, the new managing company of Limassol port, plans to increase cruise ship arrivals at the city’s port.

Speaking to Limassol Mayor, Andreas Christou on Wednesday, DP World General Manager, Charles Meaby, discussed ways to increase the port’s passenger traffic and to promote Limassol as a cruise destination.

The two men agreed to a second meeting in three weeks’ time in order to railroad specific measures in increasing passenger traffic at the port.

As part of the government’s port privatisation process, Limassol port marine services will be taken over by a consortium of companies comprising DP World Limited, the majority participant, P&O Maritime and G.A.P Vassilopoulos Public Ltd, while the multi-purpose terminal will be headed by a consortium of DP World Limited and G.A.P Vassilopoulos Public Ltd.
