Alistair Daly, chief marketing officer at ‘On the Beach’ said: "Spain is dominating the late deals market, however other popular destinations such as Cyprus, Egypt and Turkey are proving more popular than last year.
"Holidaymakers have clearly had enough of the appalling British summer and are jetting off to warmer climates.”
However, the study shows that Spain is the top choice for Brits planning last-minute getaways this summer.
Countries showing the biggest YOY growth:
1 Cyprus
2 Egypt
3 Turkey
4 Greece
5 Spain
Resorts across Turkey are offering the cheapest deals compared to last year, with last-minute holidays on average, 15% cheaper than last year.
The growing destination of Croatia is also cheaper than last year (down 10%), whilst holidays to the Greek resort of Halkidiki and the Balearic Island of Menorca are 6% cheaper than the previous year, reported Travel Daily Media.
Last week the President of the Association of Travel Agents painted a positive picture of the 2015 tourist season.
Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency, Ntinos Kakkouras said that those involved in the tourist industry believe that this year the tourist season is set to close on a positive note.
He said that initial estimates of a 25% drop in tourist arrivals from Russia seem to have been overturned in that the reduction is now estimated to be around 20%, with an anticipated further decline.
He added that there was a significant increase in the number of tourists mainly from the English, German and Swedish markets but also from other destinations such as France, Holland, Poland, Israel and Greece - in spite of the country`s problems – which has given the tourist industry a boost.
