Larnaca Mayor Andreas Louroudjiatis said the new flights introduced this year, which connect Larnaca airport with European and Middle Eastern destinations is the result of the targeted and coordinated efforts of the ministry of Communications and Works, Hermes Airports, the municipality and local tourist organisations.

He said that Larnaca municipality’s efforts focus on three pillars; the improvement of the image of the town, the embellishment of public places and the organisation of sports and cultural events, and promoting Larnaca’s rich history.

New destinations and increased flights to and from Larnaca airport include easyJet’s twice weekly flights from Basel, Wizz Air which added three new destinations from Belgrade, Kiev and Vilnius, FlyNiki with three flights a week from Vienna, Norwegian Air which started a new route from London’s Gatwick and Vueling which will fly throughout the summer twice per week from Barcelona.

Middle Eastern destinations include Iraqi Zagrosjet’s flights from Erbil three times a week, Qeshm Air with a weekly flight from Tehran, Israeli EL-AL’s daily flights, Qatar Airways flights to Doha four times a week and Etihad which increased from three to five weekly flights to Abu Dhabi. I-fly and Ikar Air also added new flights from Russia.

The Paphos Tourism Board also expressed their satisfaction for Austria based Niki’s plans to add their airport to its route network as of next year.
