Job vacancies up by an annual 50% in Cyprus

Job vacancies in the Cypriot labor market rose by 3,716 or by 50.2% in the second quarter of 2022 with the job vacancy rate amounting to 2.7%.

According to data released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CyStat), a total of 11,113 were vacant in the second quarter of 2022 over 7,397 in the same quarter of last year.

Compared to the previous quarter of this year, job vacancies decreased by 1,761 or by 13.7%.

The job vacancy rate in the second quarter of 2022 was 2.7%, compared with 3.2% in the previous quarter of 2022 and 2.6% in the second quarter of last year, CyStat added.

The largest job vacancy rates in the second quarter of 2022 were observed in the sectors of accommodation and food service activities with 7.2%, transportation and storage with 4.0%, administrative and support service activities at 3.8% and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities at 3.2%.
