Italian energy giant gives two local scholarships

The Italian energy giant ENI has offered scholarships to two Cypriots for postgraduate studies in energy, the environment and economics.

According to a press release from the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), one of its own graduates was awarded a scholarship by ENI for a Master’s course in the Management and Economics of Energy and the Environment (MEDEA) at the Scuola Enrico Mattei, part of the ENI Corporate University in Italy.

The choice ofCUT graduate civil engineer Christodoulos Christodoulou for the scholarship was a “strong indication” of the recognition afforded CUT’s high academic level, the Cypriot university said. CUT highlighted that the scholarship awards were decided through a competitive evaluation process.

Apart from Noble Energy, which operates block 12 in Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone along with Israel’s Delek, the Cyprus Republic has also signed contracts with the Italian/South Korean consortium ENI/KOGAS for hydrocarbons exploration in blocks 2, 3 and 9, as well as with French TOTAL for blocks 10 and 11. ENI has an 80 per cent stake in the consortium.
