Israeli Foreign Minister to visit Cyprus in November 2014

Israeli Foreign Affairs Minister Avigdor Lieberman will be visiting Cyprus next month, to prepare for an official state visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Lieberman is expected for a two-day trip on November 5 and 6 to lay the groundwork for Netanyahu’s visit who will be arriving on the island with a big number of his Cabinet.

The upcoming meeting between President Nicos Anastasiades and the Israeli PM is expected to focus on Turkey’s provocative actions within the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone, but will also look at ways of expanding collaboration regarding hydrocarbons exploration and output.

House of Representatives president Yiannakis Omirou travelled to Israel in February where he met President Shimon Peres.

This is the second time Anastasiades and Netanyahu willbe meeting, since the President visited Israel in May 2013, heading a Cabinet delegation.

This is also Lieberman’s second visit to the island, since he met with then Foreign Affairs minister Erato Kozakou Markoullis in December 2011.
