Investment opportunities exist, president tells Dubai chamber

Opportunities for growth exist in the majority of economic sectors of Cyprus, President Anastasiades told a Business Forum in Dubai, particularly in relation to the island's hydrocarbons find.

The forum was attended by members of the UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency and the Cyprus-GCC Business Association.

“Especially today, the discovery of natural gas reserves within Cyprus’ Exclusive Economic Zone creates excellent investment prospects in the energy sector and ancillary services,” Anastasiades said. “The emerging oil and gas industry to be created on the island is expected to provide a significant boost to our economy, spearheading significant growth and driving numerous other sectors as well.”

The president invited UAE businessmen to explore the ways to invest in Cyprus and to cooperate with Cypriot businesses, taking full advantage of the many opportunities offered in most sectors of the economy. Anastasiades expressed confidence that strengthening of bilateral relations at all levels would benefit both countries.

He said attracting foreign investment was a top priority for Cyprus. “What is most important is that opportunities for growth exist in the majority of economic sectors of Cyprus,” he said.

On his way to Dubai, he and the Cypriot delegation, paid a visit to the Tomb of the Founder of the Nation Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, at the Grand Mosque.
