Intership Navigation Co awarded with Bronze Standard

Intership Navigation Co, a first class ship owning and management company based in Limassol has been awarded the Investors in People ‘Bronze Standard’, demonstrating its commitment to realising the potential of its people.

The company was established in 1988 in Limassol by the Hartmann Group of Germany and has since grown into a major international ship-owner and manager, presently managing a fleet of 84 vessels and a further 100 vessels on crew management basis.  It employs some 5,000 seafarers of various nationalities on-board and a further 160 shore-based staff worldwide.

Intership Navigation was the first shipping company on the island to be certified for compliance with the ‘Investors in People’ shore staff development program in 2012. The program, now well implemented in the company, offers a flexible work-hour scheme; on-the-job coaching and training for employees, as well as career planning tools.

Its offices boast a large cafeteria, relaxation area, well-equipped gym and a games room to promote physical and mental well-being.  An adjacent Day Care Centre caters exclusively to employees’ children.  It comes as no surprise that Intership Navigation maintains a remarkably high staff retention rate of 96%.

Investors in People is the UK’s leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.

Commenting on the award, Dieter Rohdenburg, CEO of Intership Navigation, said: “Shipping is very much a ‘people business’, and our staff is our most valuable asset. We firmly believe that providing the right framework for people to develop will foster commitment and loyalty, which in turn will help the company to achieve its targets. The IIP Bronze certification is yet another step on our way to making Intership the most attractive employer in Limassol.”
