Inflation rate slowdown in August 2014

Inflation rate recorded a slight slowdown in August 2014, with an annual increase of 0,8% compared to 0,9% in July 2014, according to the Statistical Service.

The corresponding rate for August 2013, increased at 0,1%.

In August 2014, the biggest increases were recorded in restaurants and hotels by 4.4%, clothing and footwear by 4.2% as well as in alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2,9%.

A rise was also recorded in communication by 1.5% and in transport by 1.4%. 



The largest decreases were recorded in education by 3.9% and in the sector of housing, water, electricity and gas by 2.8%. Reductions were also recorded in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages by 0.7%, health by 0.8% and furnishings, household equipment and supplies by 0.8%
