Industrial producer prices rise by 0.3% in September 2016

Industrial producer prices rose in Cyprus by 0.3% in September 2016, compared with August 2016, and have fallen by 2.1% compared with September 2015.

The Industrial producer prices index on the domestic market for the total industry was at 99.8 and 104.9 excluding the energy sector.

Meanwhile industrial producer prices rose by 0.1% in the euro area (EA19) and by 0.2% in the EU28, according to estimates from Eurostat. In August 2016 prices fell by 0.2% in both zones. In September 2016, compared with September 2015, industrial producer prices decreased by 1.5% in the euro area and by 1.1% in the EU28.

On a monthly basis, prices in total industry excluding energy also rose by 0.1% both in the EU28 and the euro area. The largest increases in industrial producer prices were observed in the Netherlands (+2.0%), Belgium and Croatia (both +1.5%) and Estonia (+0.6%); industrial producer prices only decreased in Germany (-0.2%), Ireland, Italy, Malta and Sweden (all -0.1%).

On annual basis Industrial producer prices fell in nearly all Member States, with the largest decreases observed in Luxembourg (-7.1%), the Netherlands (-3.8%), Slovakia (-3.3%) and Greece (-3.2%). Industrial producer prices increased only in the United Kingdom (+1.8%), Poland and Sweden (both +0.7%) and Malta (+0.4%).
