India interested in Cyprus privatisations process

Indian High Commissioner Ravi Bangar has expressed interest in the privatisations process at a meeting with the Minister of Communications.

The two men agreed to work towards concluding bilateral agreements in the areas of merchant shipping, protection of antiquities, cooperation in blue growth, telecommunications, satellite communications and research & innovation. The possibility of direct flights between the two countries was also discussed.

During the meeting the Indian High Commissioner “expressed particular interest in the privatisations process, noting that big companies have successfully invested in and undertaken the management of state organizations and well known private businesses in various regions of the world, including Europe”, the press release says.

Bangar and Minister Tasos Mitsopoulos also agreed to work towards concluding agreements in the areas of merchant shipping, protection of antiquities from acts of looting and vandalism while the possibility of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the areas of blue growth and economy, telecommunications, satellite communications, research and innovation areas in which India possesses worthwhile experience. The Cypriot minister also put forward the possibility of direct flights between the two countries in an effort to encourage tourism and trade and business relations between Cyprus and India. It was agreed that contacts on a technocratic level will intensify so that final agreements in the various areas can be concluded soon.
